Space Pirate

The Assignment

This was the second assignment I took on during the Character Design course. It was a smaller one, with the focus being a rendered out portrait.

The prompt was simply Space Pirates - created by merging together human and animal traits.

The main part of the assignment was designing a human-animal hybrid.

I studied alien-looking creatures together with punk, threatening poses.

I was playing with both space and classical pirate elements and concepts.

I really liked the chameleon creature.

Tried out different space-inspired and dramatic color and lighting scenarios for my favourite ideas.
I wanted the space setting to be clear
The lighting had to be neutral enough for the base colors to stay readable.
I really liked the 3rd, albino look - it reminded me of classic Star Wars imperial look which screams space-Nazi.
